Isla Blanca flats are located just 30 minutes from Cancun’s downtown.
Our guide Enrique has been guiding in the Isla Blanca and Cancun area for over 12 years. He is one of the longest full time guides in the area and has been fishing these waters since he was a little kid. Known for his patience, passion for the sport, and never ending effort to find people fish, you will be in good hands with him.
Isla Blanca Cancun
Permit, baby tarpon and snook will keep you fishing all day
Baby tarpon and snook can be found year round in the Cancun and Isla Blanca area. It is a great place to be fishing for tarpon. If you’re looking for bonefish, the summer months are the most productive, although there is not a big abundance of bonefish in that area. For those who are after permit, Isla Blanca is the way to go with large numbers of fish showing up in May through August and are the peak months for fishing for permit.
Among those species we can also find barracuda, snappers, jacks, sea trout and ladyfish. The chances of getting a Grand Slam or Super Slam are likely as the area is hardly fished and a lot of the water is so shallow that commercial fishing boats can not enter the area.
We use a custom 23ft. Panga with a 50hp Yamaha, platform and four-stroke engine which will make those rides with little effort. Also, these Pangas can be poled in less than ten inches of water so we face no restrictions when out on the flats.
We believe that a guide has a much better view when poling from a platform rather than from the back of the boat, so we put a poling platform on all of our Pangas. The last thing you want to happen to you is spotting that permit or bonefish when it is too close to the boat and spooks.

For our trip to Isla Blanca we arrange hotel pick-ups at your hotel if you are staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone or Downtown Cancun. Pick up time is at 5:00am. We only do 8hr trips as the area is a lot bigger than Cancun and to get you to all the spots requires a longer boat ride.
- Fly Fishing
The rods we supply are G-Loomis rods with Orvis reels to ensure that you won’t lose that fish due to equipment failure. We use floating lines for the flats and slow sinking lines for the channels. We supply you with all flies and leaders, and of course you’re welcome to bring your own gear. An 8wt. rod will cover you. - Spinning Tackle
The rods we supply are medium/fast action rods together with Penn or Shimano Reels. These make the perfect combination for a hassle free day of fishing. If you’re planning to bring your own gear, make sure your reel holds about 150 yo 200yards of 10 to 12lb test line.
